The Town of Camden, known as "Where the Mountains Meet the Sea", is the home of the Camden Snow Bowl. The Snow Bowl is the only ski area in the "lower 48 states" that allows skiers and riders to enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean and coastal islands. Grooming is always excellent. Most of the mountain is intermediate terrain, but there is something for all levels including glade skiing, a good sized terrain park, and a few steep sections to challenge the experts. With a newly upgraded snowmaking system on almost half the terrain, you can count on plenty of snow typically from Christmas through mid-March.
The Camden Snow Bowl is a 70 year old municipal winter recreation area on the coast of Maine. It is the kind of place where youngsters are dropped off by their parents to ski with friends after school, evenings and weekends; on fair mornings there is always of friendly group of retirees meeting for breakfast and enjoying the well groomed slopes with an unparalleled view of Penobscot Bay; and midday you will usually find a local school group taking lessons. The Snow Bowl was established in 1936 and is the home of the annual U.S. National Toboggan Championship races, held the first weekend each February. In addition to skiing and the Toboggan Chute there is a two lane Tubing Hill, a Skating Rink on the pond, and a Cross Country Ski Trail.
