The Prospect Restaurant is an award-winning food and wine destination. The Prospect has won the prestigious Wine Spectator Magazine "Award of Excellence," for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world for four years in a row. Other honors include "2002 Best Restaurant Worth a Drive" from Albany's Metroland Magazine, 2001 and 2003 "Best Restaurant in Greene County" from Hudson Valley Magazine, and the 1999 "Restaurant of the Year" Award from the New York Wine and Grape Foundation, which recognizes The Prospect for its leadership role in featuring New York State wines in concert with innovative menus presenting local and regional agricultural products.
The Prospect's menu offer diners a fusion of American regional and New York state dishes, beautifully presented in a dining room offering breathtaking views of the Great Northern Catskills. As a unique food and wine destination, we have focussed on offering the best of New York State agricultural products. We select ingredients from local greenmarkets and directly from Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountain farmers. Everything is made to order, with a special emphasis on allowing the fresh tastes to shine. Current selections from the menu include locally smoked Catskill Rainbow Trout with a honey-mustard remoulade, Hudson Valley Lamb Sausage, and Cider Glazed Breast of Long Island Duckling with New York State Macintosh apple chutney.
Those in search of a unique culinary experience must attend one of The Prospect's Wine Dinners. These dinners pair carefully selected wines from around the world with extraordinary menus, and an entertaining vineyard speaker. Early reservations are suggested, since these dinners sell out early!
The Prospect's name is derived from two sources; the classic nineteenth century Catskill Mountain hotel that formerly occupied the site of Scribner Hollow and from the magnificent views through the restaurant's floor to ceiling windows.
The Prospect is the place for those who want only the finest the Hunter area has to offer - and it's a perfect complement to the lodge itself.
