Beaver Creek Resort – "Why we love Beaver Creek."
Without a doubt one of our very favorite resorts in Colorado and anywhere. We try to get away at least once a year for a long weekend. There are no lift lines, the powder is acessible(not tracked out) longer than any of the other front range areas. The grooming is impeccable, there are steeps, trees, bowls and bumps as well as comfy cruisers. The chocolate chip cookies served warm twice a day are not to be missed either. Then for the racing enthusiast, the annual Birds Of Prey Downhill and supporting races is one of the best in the world. There is plenty of workd class lodging including the Ritz Carlton at Bachelor's Gulch. This January I had the chance to get on the mountain at 7:30 AM. It was an industry function - The Western Regional Ski Areas Association trade show - that provided the opportunity. We were greeted at the top with hot cider or hot chocolate and grooming maps. Immediately we were informed the Birds of Prey Downhill Race course had been freshly groomed that evening. So we headed like lemmings to the top for tis rare opportunity. It was a tremondous run. Freshly ripped corduroy on this steep run. Smiles and giggles emanated from the collection of resort operators, vendors and associates along for this ride. It was truly a rare treat and eberyone devoured and enjoyed the moment. Most of those we saw jumped right back up for a second helping. From there we would ski in Larkspur Bowl before a breakfast feast at Beano's Cabin. After indulging in the savory meal it was back up for more turns. I was able to make a few runs down Rosebowl wiht the group before heading down and doing what really resembled work. This day was truly one of the more unique and delighful days ever.
