Powder is known for 500 inches per year of top quality snow. The ski area actually covers three mountains covered with 113 runs. Powder has acheived a reputation for untracked powder because of the abundance of bowls, glades and tree skiing off piste. Real snow also makes for beautifully groomed cruisers.
The2006/07 SKI Magazine Readers Survey rated PowMow as #1 for snow and value. With 5,500 skiable acres and 500 inches of snow annually, no wonder Powder Mountain is known as the place for untracked powder in Utah. About half of the resort is served by lifts and has great groomed cruisers. The remainder is ungroomed with 1200 acres with the Powder Country shuttle, 700 acres of cat skiing at Lightning Ridge and 800 acres of guided tour in the Wolf Creek Drainage.
Powder Mountain has been owned and operated by the same family since it's opening in 1972. The emphasis at the mountain is on well maintained slopes and on the sport, rather than on glitz. The family ambiance is apparent in the genuine warmth and old fashioned hospitality of the staff. Powder Mountain is the only ski area in the state that does not make snow, offering customers more fun on real snow. Powder Mountain offers slopeside lodging and four mountain restaurants. Located 55 miles North of Salt Lake.
