Press announcement on Snowy Range in (WY)Wyoming:
SAM Magazine—Laramie, Wyo., Sept. 15, 2008—Snowy Range is up for sale, and the current owners say they won’t open the resort this year if no buyers come forward.
Rick and Terri Colling, who have owned and operated the resort for 16 years, say the ski area has struggled since the base lodge burned down in 2003. The Colling family has been trying to sell the resort for the past year, and three groups are said to be interested in purchasing it.
However, with snow already falling at higher elevations, any new owner will have to move quickly if the resort is to open this season. Bu First National Bank president Dan Furphy, who is assisting in the sale of the ski area, said that the resort will operate in the future, even if the bullwheels don’t turn this season. “It will be sold. There’s no doubt about that,” Furphy told the Laramie Boomerang. “The question is just whether it will be sold in time to open this year.”
